I think this is a great feature, but it might be good if there was an option for those to disable the noises (maybe count it as part of the 'emotes' channel - anything with that unticked doesn't hear pet noises). Good idea though, it'll add life to some of the Canthan and Tyrian ghost towns.

EDIT: Not sure why they disabled pet sounds completely, disabling the sounds in towns would have been enough

Personally the sound of the wee Dragon used to send me absolutly BONKERS.

Not only were the sounds horribly awful and grating , they in no way represented the minipet's character or size, they were totally out of proportion in both scale and volume.

A MINI PET, has a MINI sound.

Not a all encompassing ROAR, that is 30X louder then some of the enemies within the game.

Just like visuals, sound must be used in proportion and scale to the item/creature... whatever....... that is emitting the sound ! .

Therefore a much more realistic solution, would to have the minipet's make a noise that is equal and suitable to their size.

A SMALL ROAR! for the dragon e.t.c

A cute "bark" "roar" "meoooow" "Purrrr" "Mooo" "Mutter" "Howl" "Cry" e.t.c

for other pets of various errr breeds:P.

Hate this update, if it has made prices raise it's a bitch for people who sold them early because they were USELESS AND POINTLESS, and on that note they're still USELESS AND POINTLESS.

GG Community....

I think you'll find most people who complained about the pet sounds asked for a option to disable it, I don't think anyone asked for the sounds removed completely (feel free to point out the posts where people asked for complete removal of pet sounds, incase I missed them).

Hardly our fault if anet choose to remove them all together.

It was probably the easiest soltion for the time being to just remove them. Hopefully they will add a toggle at some point.

Adding my voice to 'please add a toggle soon'...

I'm pretty depressed about my silent hydra. It was cute when she used to chip in with advice mid-battle.

It's sad that they removed the sounds from the minipet. Because loads of people have a troll just because it makes some nice sounds. I would prefer that if you're in range of a pet, you can hear its sound and simply aint so much anoying then you can hear Kunavang at Lions arch ship while it's at the fountain, that's something I have experienced. Lions arch just had the awesome mood yesterday when the update came, too bad they removed the sounds

Come on people wake up and seriously get with it....
1)You complain when you can't use mini pets in towns
-then Anet add them to towns/outposts
2)you complain because the noise they make in towns annoys you,
-then Anet get rid of the sounds they make
3)you complain about a lack of sound lol

can Anet do nothing right....
I think theyre doing an awesome job guild wars is THE best game i have ever played and its always changing it has a great atmosphere and there is a great community just stop whinging about every change that comes about....
and if you really hate change go and play runescape or something!

just enjoy all the events and things Anet put on.... and think yourself lucky that there is a whole production team looking out for our wants and needs!

Rant Over---

That would make sense if the entirety of all GWG posters were a single gestalt entity. In the real world, where we're all individuals, I think it's safe to assume that 1), 2) and 3) are opinions held by different people. Myself, I onyl ever subscribed to complaint 2).

I think you missed the point there and went all fanboy. The people arguing about point 2 are totally different people than the ones arguing about point 3.

I don't need telling how good the game is, thanks. I know already. Hence the reason I play it, and have applauded anet on various aspects of the game, numerous times. But when people enjoy a game so much and then big changes are made, it's a fact that some will be happy about the changes and others won't.

I like it as it is now. I missed the original update, so I don't know how bad/good it was with sounds, but I can imagine - I deleted my first Factions character and didn't bother recovering his Kuna first, becaue I hated the damn thing so much. I actually kind of regret that now - seeing them fly around their master serenly, without that awful din.

So thanks Anet - I'm really glad to see them, and I'm *really* glad not to have to hear them.

I also miss the minipet sounds. It gave them some personality. Hopefully
A-net will come up with some compromise like a toggle or just banning their sounds in outposts.

I would like them to disable sound in towns but allow them in missions / explore zones.

I, for one, am glad the sounds are gone.

In speaking with Gaile... or more like randomly yelling at her amidst a large group of people also yelling their questions and requests at Gaile... she did say that she was going to ask the designers for a mute minipet option. This was last evening in Kamadan Int1 before the minipet sound nerf.

Only complaint I can possibly think of is that it promotes elitism... "ZOMG! Look at my uber-cool Kuunavang!" Of course, I'm really reaching with that... and I'm rather happy because I have a mule account full of minipets who have suddenly appreciated in value overnight!
